Haridwar to The Aipan Resort, Chopta

Your journey begins with a scenic drive from Haridwar/Dehradun to Chopta, passing through the sacred confluences of Devprayag, Rudraprayag, and Ukhimath, where the holy rivers merge. Witness awe-inspiring mountain landscapes, ancient temples, and charming villages along the way.

  • Check into The Aipan Resort, Chopta, a tranquil retreat amidst the Himalayas.

  • Enjoy a traditional Pahadi tea welcome and soak in the breathtaking sunset from the resort.

  • Evening at leisure to explore the serene surroundings or relax by a cozy bonfire (weather permitting).

  • Dinner featuring organic, locally sourced ingredients, offering an authentic taste of Garhwali cuisine.

Day 1

Chopta – Tungnath – Chandrashila – Chopta

After an early breakfast, set off for a spiritually uplifting trek to Tungnath Temple (3,680m), the highest Shiva temple in the world and one of the Panch Kedar shrines.

  • The 3.5 km trek passes through dense rhododendron forests and opens up to breathtaking Himalayan vistas.

  • Offer prayers at Tungnath Temple, absorbing the deep spiritual aura of this sacred site.

  • For adventure seekers, continue to Chandrashila Peak (4,000m) for a 360° panoramic view of Nanda Devi, Trishul, and Kedarnath peaks.

  • Descend back to Chopta and return to The Aipan Resort for a delicious hot Pahadi meal.

  • Evening cultural experience featuring local folklore, myths, and Himalayan legends.

  • Stargazing session under the pristine night sky before resting for the night.

Day 2

Chopta – Deoriatal – Chopta

Wake up to the crisp mountain air and enjoy a traditional breakfast with sunrise views. Today, we explore Deoriatal Lake (2,438m), a hidden gem in the Himalayas.

  • A short drive to the trek base at Sari Village.

  • The moderate 2.5 km trek leads to the tranquil Deoriatal Lake, famed for its mirror-like reflection of the Chaukhamba peaks.

  • Enjoy quiet moments of meditation and photography in the pristine alpine setting.

  • Trek back and return to The Aipan Resort, Chopta.

  • Evening at leisure, with optional bonfire and storytelling sessions.

  • Relish a farewell dinner featuring authentic Himalayan delicacies.

Day 3

Chopta to Haridwar / Dehradun

Enjoy a final sunrise over the Himalayas before a hearty breakfast at The Aipan Resort.

  • Bid farewell to the mountains as we drive back to Haridwar/Dehradun.

  • Stop at picturesque viewpoints along the way to capture the last glimpses of Garhwal’s natural beauty.

  • Arrive in Haridwar/Dehradun by evening, marking the end of a memorable spiritual and adventure retreat.

Best Time to Visit Tungnath & Deoriatal

The best time for this yatra is April to June and September to November, when the weather is pleasant, skies are clear, and the trails are accessible. The monsoon months (July-August) bring lush greenery but also unpredictable rains, while winter (December-February) offers a snow-covered Chopta, making it ideal for snow trekking.
